So I said I'd use this as a dream journal - and last night I actually had a dream worth writing about. Okay, so technically it was this morning as it was between 9 and 12 am... but anyway:

Basically - I was the avatar (here you probably need to have some kind of knowledge about avatar: the last airbender to understand how phenomenally cool this was) but not aang or anything - actually myself but as an avatar - and I was fighting against Zuko and two nameless firebenders and let me tell you, fighting with all four elements is actually very difficult! I managed to fight them off though :) It's just so wierd because I was so into it - I remember all the moves I used and when I woke up, it felt so surreal that even if I did some taichi, it wouldn't bend water or anything, heh. I'm sure my mum came into the dream at one point but I've no idea how or when or whether it was relevant to anything... Seriously - flying using airbending (using a sort of kite device) was the most amazing dream experience I've ever had, I'm actually considering doing hang gliding because of it... I've never free-flown in a dream before, I could jump really really high which is another thing that airbenders could do but never flown. To be honest, I would recommend everybody to become completely and utterly obsessed with avatar for two weeks just to have a kick-ass dream about it...

On a somewhat related note I just finished reading a book by one 'Isabel Losada' entitled 'A beginner's guide to changing the world' which is about her struggle to make a difference - focusing on the plight of Tibet, or rather, the 'Tibet Autonomous Region' and the sickening (in my eyes) way the world is treating it. Honestly, I never want to buy anything that was made in China ever again. Really makes you see how messed up people are but more then that - it makes you want to change for the better. Can't stress enough how much everybody should read this book - not just for the politics, moralities and ethics it presents but because its a good read - funny, informative and extremely well written. - I especially recommend it to Sess as it delves into Buddhism in an insightful way!

Anywho - I say it's related because the whole way through the book I couldn't help but draw parallels with the world of avatar. If you think about it: China (firenation) believe their culture is the best and so take over Tibet (Air nomads); Air nomads (Tibetans) are highly spiritual, wear bright colours (such as orange and red) and even aangs guidence/leader dude was called 'Gyatso' like many of the dalai lamas. I could probably go on but I'll spare you. (And yes that was terribly simplified and probably inaccurate but they're just my thoughts.)

And there ends my blog as I lapse into silence for another month.

PS. To bex: Not sure if you'll actually be reading this but if ya are - Manchester is cool but I sure as hell miss the sea - darn growing up in Poole harbour *grumbles*

Zuko stealing Obi-wan's lightsaber, I'm guessing it would go very badly for Zuko... Obi-wan'd probably use mind tricks but Zuko would fire bend his *ahem* and an awesome battle would ensue. Yes, I'm also concerned about how much I'm liking this male/male pairings... :D

Right, so there was this war going on and me and my mum were posted in the back garden (sitting on deckchairs!) and then dad comes to inspect (he was a general) then I heard that my (dreamt) half brother (I think he was called Liam - on my mother's side (sorry mum!)) had been called up to the front and I was sad because he reminded me of my actual brother because he liked looney tunes. Then me, mum and dad went on holiday to some random couple's house and we had to get there by jumping in water and mum was worried that we would be killed in a terrorist attack on the way there but when we got there safely i realised it was more likely that we would be taken hostage by the strange couple.

Interpretation: waaaaay too much reading of Captain Correlli's Mandolin and watching Avatar, and I've been missing the ones I love recently.

I'm beginning to think I may be a bit neurotic...

I phoned my parents twice today to be answered by an answering machine (which speaks the queen's english don'tcha know?) and then all it took was my brother to start talking to my on msn for me to think 'ZOMG! Our parents died in a horrible, horrible, fiery car crash' and almost started crying and wondering how I was going to continue living before he started talking to me about books...

C'est la vie. Or not, as the case may be.

Well, as I don't officially have a 'subject' for this whole account-entry-blog thing I hereby officially announce it as 'Complaints on a theme: Life.' There.

Had a dilemma today on whether to go to a non-compulsory research seminar today *collective gasps from students around the world* I know, I know, something academic that isn't compulsory - an instant no, right? Well not to me. Not to miss lets-do-it-anyway-to-broaden-our-horizons. Only not in plural. The only person I feel comfortable dragging to all things boring and totally irrelevant had buggered off to Butlin's to get pissed. Only I think it's officially known as a 'brass band competition'.

So this lecture - about singers and how they know how to pitch notes. Thought I'd go 'cos my intonation's absolutely dire. Came back knowing nothing that wasn't glaringly obvious in the first place. It went something like this:

Lecturer: So, bigger intervals are harder to pitch then smaller intervals
Me: *looks at watch*
Lecturer: People were better at sight-singing the second time of singing it through
Me: *annoyed sigh*
Lecturer: The singers better at sight-singing, groundbreaking results have shown, were, in fact, better at sight-
Me: *throws tin pencil case at Lecturer*

At least, that's how I like to think it could have gone...
